The ‘80 for 90’ Business Trial
The trial will start on 01 January 2026
ReGenerate is building a coalition of leading organisations to trial the ‘80 for 90’ employee policy. There is currently a ‘Policy Gap’ when parents return to work after maternity or paternity leave, with no to limited additional support from employers.
‘80 for 90’ signals a new era for family friendly policies. Our trial will last for 2 years and will involve organisations extending parental rights for employees following parental leave. Register your interest for the trial today to help lead the way.
What is ‘80 for 90?’
When an employee returns from parental leave, this policy would let new parents work 80% of their hours for 90% of their pay until their child turns 2.
A phased return to work for new parents could improve retention, boosts morale, and helps parents stay productive while they have increased caregiving responsibilities.
WHAT THE TRIAL INCLUDES
1) A trial backed by insight and support from the ReGenerate team including guidance (“A Business Toolkit”) and a policy template

The Policy Gap
