Our CEO Ed Boyd joined the launch of New Philanthropy Capital and the Impact Economy Collective’s new essay collection, The Impact Economy: Delivering together for people, planet and place. Ed contributed an essay to the collection, setting out the importance of good business and how purpose and profit can reinforce each other.
Our Senior Policy Associate Claire-Emily Martin fed into the design of the government’s EDI Awards and served as a national judge for the employer categories. The awards ceremony celebrated innovative business-led initiatives and featured keynote addresses from the Education Secretary and Skills Minister.
Our Senior Policy Associate Claire-Emily Martin spoke on the Employer and Policy Expert Panel at BBC Headquarters to discuss what businesses and the government can do to better support care-experienced apprentices (read her insights here). The session brought together policymakers and employers to explore ways to widen access and solidify best practice.
The No10 reception celebrated the power of partnerships to deliver change and the new Office for the Impact Economy. It has been a privilege to work with the Impact Economy Collective and the Social Impact Investment Advisory Group to make this happen, echoing our calls in 2024 for a clear ‘front door’ for businesses to partner with government.
We hosted over 80 senior politicians, business leaders, and entrepreneurs to celebrate the power of good business in tackling the UK’s biggest challenges. Minister Sir Stephen Timms gave a keynote address on the importance of the Impact Economy, alongside insights from Greggs and Amazon on leveraging business as a force for good.

Our Head of Policy Bramwell Blower spoke at the launch event for Labour for Industry, Finance & Trade alongside Noah Law MP and other industry leaders, outlining why lifting people in disadvantaged communities is a fundamental driver of national growth and productivity.

Our colleague Tim Pemberton was invited by the West Midlands Social Recruitment Advisory Group to give a speech on why businesses should better support working parents, and why prioritising early childhood is both good for society and good for employers. We also introduced our 80 for 90 Pioneers campaign.

Ed set out how business and government can partner to tackle poverty, including creating a single UK-wide Anti-poverty Employer commitment.

We were delighted to attend the Summit, during which Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Darren Jones cited our research highlighting that nearly 80% of UK businesses want to do more to tackle societal challenges. Praising the work of several businesses in our network, he recognised the pressing need for greater government support.

We hosted a roundtable with the Minister for Skills with businesses, training providers and expert organisations on how government and business can unlock more apprenticeships for hidden talent. We discussed the social, business and economic benefits of doing this, and the practical reforms needed to drive meaningful change.
Our Senior Policy Associate Claire-Emily Martin chaired a roundtable with the Department for Education and employers including Amazon, Greene King, Co-op and John Lewis Partnership to discuss how Foundation Apprenticeships can support care leavers, ex-offenders and neurodivergent people into work. The session focused on the design elements needed to support these groups.
