Why the world needs companies to profitably tackle big challenges.

The UK is faced with multiple social and environmental challenges, from the cost of living crisis to climate change. Mainstream businesses have a vital role to play in helping tackle them.

Most efforts to find solutions are focused on the role of government and charities. While there is much that the government and charities can do, they are limited by debt and scale respectively. UK government debt has topped 100% of GDP, and charity turnover is £79bn - 0.002% of business turnover.

Business is a significant untapped resource that we desperately need to unlock as we face the great challenges of our age. ReGenerate looks specifically for purpose-driven opportunities for business to play its part in tackling a range of issues, where the solution is delivered through a profitable model rather than purely philanthropy.

Current and previous projects

Explore our current projects. The Good Jobs Project is dedicated to helping employers fill their vacancies by incentivising and supporting them to recruit individuals facing barriers to work. The Net Zero Project is focused on acheiving the UK’s commitment in law to reach net zero climate change emmissions by 2050, whilst ensuring it happens in a way that retains public support and benefits the poorest in society.

About our projects

We leave no stone unturned in our efforts to take on and solve these challenges. We conduct evidence-based research to understand the root causes of the issue and create reforms that will have a major impact in helping address them.

But we do not stop there. There is little value in identifying what is needed without inspiring change. Instead, we operate as a supernode, bringing people together around the reform ideas and driving change.

Our reforms are focused on three key players that significantly affect business behaviour: the government, investors and business networks / influential businesses. This is because research shows they have the biggest impact on businesses.

Objective

Businesses in the UK lead in solving three or more significant social or environmental issues in a purpose-driven way in how they innovate, scale, employ, partner & create products/services.

Key result

ReGenerate launches three major projects that are having a significant impact and are demonstrating that the purpose-driven approach is good for business by 2025.
